Blue Dart Express Ltd is one of South Asia's largest courier and integrated air express companies, with a dedicated aviation infrastructure. The company started its operations in November 1983 and is headquartered at Mumbai, India.
The company had a joint venture with FedEx, which was formed in 1984. However the contract with FedEx did not allow Blue Dart to carry any packages from other players such as TNT, UPS or DHL.
In 2005, DHL Express acquired the major part of Blue Dart's shareholding, giving it leadership in the Indian market.
In 2009, its revenues were Rs9,052m.
