October - DSV's completed acquisition of ABX Logistics from 3i Group, which has substantially strengthened DSV's air and sea freight operation.
Saima was originally founded in 1816 by Innocente Mangili and in 1951 it changed its name to Societą per Azioni Innocenti Mangili Adriatica - Spedizioni Internazionali, or "Saima". After a period of international expansion it merged with Avandero, a company that had for some time specialised in the textiles transport business. In 1999 the company was one of the first to be acquired by the ABX LOGISTICS Group, a division of the Belgian National Railways (SNCB/NMBS). The company occupied a central position in the Italian market for transport and logistics services with global reach provided by ABX Logistics Group.
