CFR is the national rail operator in Romania. 

It is divided into three areas;

  1. Infrastructure (CFR)
  2. Passenger (CFR Călători)
  3. Freight (CFR Marfa)

with the state as the sole shareholder in all three.

CFR is the national infrastructure manager responsible for the public rail infrastructure.  Its main offering is access to the rail infrastructure for the Train Operating Companies.  CFR Călători (passenger transport) and CFR Marfa (freight transport) are the national Train Operating Companies.
