Davies Turner

The principal activity of the group is freight forwarding which comprises trailer services, ocean freight, airfreight forwarding, international removals, warehousing, logistics and hauliers.  The group is now in its 138^th year and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Davies Turner Holdings Plc, which is privately owned.  The group also has a 50% share in a small joint venture company.

Davies Turner recently invested in its regional network by relocating to a significantly larger office and warehouse complex near Glasgow Airport and opening a new facility at Edinburgh Airport.  In addition, the company also added another 20,000 sq ft of modern office and warehouse space at its Heathrow headquarters.

In 2007, its revenues were £139.77 m.

History

Davies Turner was established in 1870 by Alfred Davies to ship personal effects and general freight. As world trade expanded, the Company soon developed strong connections with North America and Europe as well as a network of branches throughout the UK. It is still highly focused on air, sea and ground based forwarding.
