Rail Cargo Austria is owned by ÖBB-Holding AG. The holding company of the ÖBB Group and Rail Cargo Austria were formed in 1992 and at the beginning of 2005 Rail Cargo Austria AG became a public company.
Rail Cargo Austria has acquired logistics companies in order to develop its offer within the logistics industry and in 2001 acquired Speditions Holding GmbH so as to increase its geographical reach as well as markets. Speditions has a number of sister companies particularly in Central and Eastern Europe.
In 2010 ÖBB-Holding AG had revenues of €6.08bn with Rail Cargo Austria reporting revenues of €2.5bn.
