Based in the USA, Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) provides airline operations, aircraft leases, aircraft maintenance and other support services primarily to the cargo transportation and package delivery industries.

History

ATSG was formed on December 31, 2007, from the reorganisation of ABX for the purpose of creating a holding company structure.

This was a result of ABX Air acquiring Cargo Holdings International, the parent company of Air Transport International (ATI) and Capital Cargo International Airlines for a cost of $350m.

Between 1980 and August 2003, ABX was an affiliate of Airborne, Inc., a publicly traded, integrated delivery service provider.

On August 15, 2003, ABX was separated from Airborne and became an independent publicly traded company, in conjunction with the acquisition of Airborne by an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of DHL Worldwide Express, B.V.

ATSG acquired CAM, ATI and CCIA (three airline subsidiaries) on December 31, 2007.

ATI was an affiliate of BAX Global, Inc. prior to 2006.
