Alaska International Airports System is a major enterprise fund of the State of Alaska. It owns and operates the State's two major international airports: Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) and Fairbanks International Airport (FAI). It is based at ANC.

Alaska is an important hub for international cargo. Its location means that 90% of the industrialised world can be reached within a 9 hour air flight. Further, relaxations in legislation permit transit cargo to and from foreign destinations to move between airlines without there being considered to be a break in its international journey.

In 2006 ANC was ranked by the Airports Council International as the world's 3rd busiest airport, based on unloaded, loaded, and in-transit cargo, as well as mail. The vast majority of ANC's cargo is in-transit, it's geographical position making it a useful hub in the North America-Asia route.

In 2010 the Airports System collected in excess of $106.6m in operating revenue.
