Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC (BNSF) is a holding company, through its subsidiaries it is engaged primarily in the freight transportation business. Its principal operating subsidiary, BSNF Railway, is a North American freight transportation company that operates one of the largest railroad systems in North America.

BNSF Railway Company (BNSF Railway) was launched in 2005 when the Burlington Northern, Santa Fe Railway Company and the Burlington Northern Railway Company (BNRR) were renamed. BSNF was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway Inc and merged with R. Acquisition Company, LLC in 2010. The company was formerly known as Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation. 

In 2010, its revenues were $15.1bn.
