CEVA

CEVA was formed in 2007 as a result of the merger of TNT Logistics and EGL Eagle Global Logistics. It is a leading logistics company, providing end-to-end design, implementation and operational capabilities in freight forwarding, contract logistics, transportation management and distribution management, on a national, regional and global scale. It operates an asset light business model.

The company serves medium and large enterprises across eight sectors: automotive and tyres, technology, industrial, retail and consumer, healthcare, publishing, aerospace and oil and gas.

In 2011, revenues totalled €6.9bn.

History

CEVA's origins are in the express and logistics provider TNT, which was founded in Australia in 1946.

In 1996, Australia-based TNT was acquired by postal and telecom company KPN in the Netherlands. Two years later the telecom and postal division of KPN were separated. The new company, called TNT NV, was then organised around three divisions: TNT Logistics, TNT Express and TNT Post.

In the early 2000s, TNT Logistics started to struggle, with margins falling as a result of difficulties in key markets, such as France.

At the end of 2005, TNT announced its intention to sell its contract logistics activities as the result of a revised strategic focus. In the autumn of 2006 TNT Logistics was sold to affiliates of Apollo Management L.P. TNT Logistics was rebranded CEVA Logistics in December 2006.
