Brief Profile Expand

Gulf Agency Shipping (GAC) was established in Kuwait as an international shipping agency in 1956.  Following decades of expansion, the GAC network now covers all five continents through a network of over 7,000 staff and 250 offices in over 40 countries.   GAC's services are complemented by Global Network Agents in key ports not covered by their own offices.

The company's services are grouped into Shipping, Logistics, Marine and Solutions business areas.  Its target market ranges from the oil & gas sector, retail, automotive to dry bulk and cruise liners.

GAC's expansion has been primarily through partnerships with, and acquisitions of, shipping and logistics companies.  The provision of services are coordinated through a network of four regional Hub Agency Centres based in Houston, London, Dubai and Singapore.

History

GAC was established when a group of Swedish shipping specialists set up an international shipping agency in Kuwait under the name of Gulf Agency Company (GAC) to provide shipping agency services in the country's congested port.

In the following years GAC opened more offices in the Middle East, as well as throughout other regions worldwide and now covers all five continents, in particular the Group's entry into the emerging markets in Central Asia. Development of the Caspian Sea oil fields offshore Turkmenistan led to long-term contracts for GAC Marine and a major commitment of vessels there.

In January 2002, GAC shifted its corporate headquarters from Athens to Dubai which had long been the home of GAC's largest operations base.
