Brief Profile Expand

2011

March - Mainfreight Limited announced the purchase of Wim Bosman, the European 3PL (Third Party Logistics) service provider.

The acquisition was a strong strategic fit for both Mainfreight and Wim Bosman, and would provide an excellent platform for both companies to expand the business and service offering globally. In particular, Mainfreight was not previously represented in Europe. This development would provide increasing services and opportunities to existing and future customers.

Wim Bosman, founded in 1963, had 16 branches in seven European countries and had 1,500 transport units as well as more than 340,000 sq m of warehousing.

The acquisition represented several benefits to Mainfreight; first and foremost, it provided the company with a significant footprint within Europe, with a well established and profitable business. Secondly, the Wim Bosman group had years of experience and expertise in supply chain logistics which would enhance the development of the Mainfreight group's equivalent business. In addition, the Wim Bosman group would benefit from an expansion of its worldwide logistics services.

The activities would continue under the current company name Wim Bosman and would not have any consequences for the employees. A special meeting of Mainfreight shareholders was scheduled to be held on March 24, 2011.

Founded in the Netherlands in 1963 Wim Bosman is a 3PL+ logistics service provider within a European network for customer specific and integrated warehousing, transport and distribution solutions combined with a global air & sea freight network. It has offices and locations in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, Romania and Russia.

Revenue in 2010 €269m and in 2008 €289m.
