Brief Profile
Vantec Group Holdings Corporation is a Japan-based holding company mainly engaged in the provision of domestic and international logistics services through subsidiaries and associated companies. The Company is active in three business segments.
- The Domestic Logistics segment is engaged in the cargo automotive transportation, including automotive parts transportation and general consumer goods transportation. This segment is also involved in the management, packing and shipping of automotive parts, as well as the harbor transportation of vehicles for export and the discharge of vehicles for import.
- The International Logistics segment is engaged in the operation of air transportation agencies, the consolidated air transportation and maritime transportation, as well as the provision of services including cargo storage, distribution processing and supply chain management services.
- The Others segment provides heavy cargo-related and moving services, among others.
Since the second management buy-out in 2003, Vantec has provided its supply chain solutions for numerous clients all over the world through its 50 years history and IT logistics management systems, as a leading independent logistics provider.
In late 2004, Tokyu Air Cargo and Tokyu World Transport became independent from the Tokyu Corporation and joined the Vantec Group under the new name of Vantec World Transport. In doing so, this opened the logistics market even further to the Vantec Corporation, leading to the formation of Vantec World Transport.
Its transportation network services over 170 countries worldwide, with its own offices throughout Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, USA, Australia, France, Thailand, Malatsia, Philippines, Netherlands, Germany and in the United Kingdom.
Where Vantec do not have an operational office, it has a range of freight agents throughout the world serving its freight requirements. Vantec is also a leading auto parts logistics company.
In 2008 its revenues were ¥140,263m.
History
The company was founded as a subsidiary company of Nissan Motor Co, Ltd. in 1954 under the name of Yokohama Yuso Co, Ltd and started transportation and packaging services of automotive parts. By 1955 it had commenced customs clearance services. In 1990 it changed its name to the "Yokoyu Vantec Corporation" and eventually the "Vantec Corporation".
In 2000 it merged with Overseas Air Cargo Co, Ltd. and by 2001 it became independent from Nissan Motor through a management buyout. In 2002 it acquired 100% shares of Ikeda Unyu Co., Ltd.. and in 2003 undertook a second management buyout.
During 2005 it acquired 100% shares of Logimate Corporation, the former "CK Logistics" and in 2006 it acquired 100% shares of Vantec Z Logistics Corporation, the former "Zexel Logitec Company", it also acquired a RFID business from Leading Information Technology Institute Inc.
