2007
July - Rhenus announced the acquisition of TMI.
TMI complements the European network of Rhenus IHG in its Freight Logistics operations, particularly in the Benelux countries, and it will add more Contract Logistics facilities. In addition, the experienced management team at TMI will significantly accelerate the expansion of international air and sea freight business within the Rhenus Group.
As a result of this acquisition, annual sales at Rhenus will rise from €2.5 to some € 3bn and the number of staff from 13,000 to 14,000. The Rhenus Group now has 230 business sites in Europe, providing an extensive logistics network, both for road and inland waterway traffic.
TMI Logistics Group has brought together a number of well known Dutch and Companies. The organisation is decentralised and comprises of two stra tegic business units. Each business unit determines its own strategy within limits defined by the holding company. The holding company is a relatively small organisation which guides strategic developments.
The activities are divided as follows:
TMI Logistics
Forwarding of air, sea and road freight, warehousing, distribution and supply chain management.
TMI Airline Services
Airline representation, handling of air freight, chartering and brokerage.
In addition to distribution from locations in Netherlands and Belgium the company also provides air and sea freight services. TMI has holdings in logistics companies in Finland, the Baltic States, Hong Kong, Curacao, Aruba and South Africa.
