2011
February - On January 20, 2011 a general meeting of the shareholders of ICF (Intercontainer-Interfrigo SA) took place in Brussels. The purpose of that meeting was to update the shareholders of ICF on the liquidation process for ICF and the actions taken by the liquidator, Mr. Joan Dubaere of Racine & Vergels in Brussels, since his appointment by the shareholders.
The liquidator announced at the meeting that ICF would cease its operations and in any case no later than early February 2011. The continuation of certain and limited operations for a limited period of time allowed the liquidator to transfer/sell certain parts of ICF's Business Units to other players and by doing so preserve maximum employment for ICF's staff. As a result, it also allowed him to organise the liquidation ICF more swiftly and in the best interest of ICF's creditors.
During the meeting, the liquidator further explained that he had worked in cooperation with ICF's existing management for certain aspects of the liquidation. Following the decision of the shareholders to liquidate ICF, the liquidator had considered it useful to involve the existing management under the liquidator's direction to ensure a swift transition.
In the meantime, remaining operational activities had effectively been ceased as from the 1st February 2011 and would allow the liquidator to reduce the limited involvement of the existing management and to subsequently terminate it. The liquidator would in due course proceed to the distribution of the available assets to ICF's creditors.
2010
At an extraordinary general meeting held on November 26, 2010 in Brussels, the shareholders of intermodal transport operator ICF Intercontainer-Interfrigo SA, Basel, decided to place the company into liquidation.
Joan Dubaere, of the Belgian law firm Racine and Vergels, had been named as liquidator. As a result of the liquidation, ICF Managing Director Bart Van der Cruysse resigned.
The primary target of the liquidation was to transfer the business units, transport service and the staff to interested parties, without the loss of customers. Therefore, the liquidator had taken the decision to continue operating the ICF block train/shuttle services.
The negotiations of the transfer of ICF business units were ongoing.
The success of those negotiations determined how many jobs were cancelled.
Intercontainer's core business is long-distance unaccompanied rail-road combined transport. It combines the various parts of the intermodal transport process to form an integrated transport chain. The company operates throughout Europe and employs 100 people.
During the 2007 financial year Intercontainer carried a total of 415,800 TEU for its logistics sector customers, which represents a decrease of 3.3% by comparison with the previous year.
In 2008 the company had revenues of €140.6m.
