TNT N.V. is a global company that provides premium mail and express services only. Up until 2006 its portfolio of services included Logistics and Freight Management, which have been sold to Norbert Dentrassangle (France Logistics) Ceva (Logistics Non-France) and Geodis (Freight Management). 
 
TNT serves over 200 countries and employs around 163,000 people. Since 2000 TNT has made many acquisitions and created a number of alliances (see Mergers Acquisitions) in the European, US and Pacific Rim markets in the express sector to develop its global spread of operations. The company's global Headquarters is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

TNT is the second largest player in the European market, behind only DHL.  Globally it ranks fourth by revenue. TNT is listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, Euronext.  

In 2009 TNT reported revenues of €10.4bn.

 
Brief History
 
Thomas National Transport was established in Australia by Ken Thomas in 1946. In 1996 TNT was taken-over by KPN, a combined nationalised Post Office/telecoms business in the Netherlands. TNT was combined with the Dutch postal services provider PTT Post (part of KPN) and the two formed the TPG Group as a subsidiary of KPN.  
 
The TPG Group was de-merged from KPN in June 1998. The company then operated under the name TPG (TNT and PTT Post, becoming TPG Post in 2002) until 2005 when it decided to operate globally under the brand of TNT for all its activities. At the time the Dutch government retained a 10% stake plus a Golden Share. 
 
TNT was the world's first publicly traded company with roots in the postal business and is listed on the stock exchange of Amsterdam, having delisted from the London stock exchange in March 2006, the Frankfurt stock exchange in June 2006 and the New York stock exchange in June 2007.
