YRC Worldwide is a holding company that, through wholly owned operating subsidiaries, provides a range of transportation and logistics services including global, national and regional. It also offers solutions for the heavyweight shipping of industrial, commercial and retail goods domestically and internationally.

YRC Worldwide's subsidiaries are organised into four reporting segments:

• National Transportation - includes YRC inc. (formed through the merger of Yellow Transporation and Roadway).
• Regional Transportation - transportation services providers focused on business opportunities in the regional and next-day markets. movement of goods.
• YRC Logistics - a global logistics management company that plans and coordinates the movement of goods worldwide to provide customers with a single source for logistics management solutions.
• Truckload - reflects the results of Glen Moore, a provider of truckload services in the US.

History

Formerly known as Yellow Roadway Corporation, the company was re-branded in line with its scale of offerings in January 2006 and changed its name from Yellow Roadway Corporation to YRC Worldwide Inc. This is reflected its worldwide scope and the expansion of its logistics activities.

The company acquired Roadway Corporation in December 2003 and USF Corporation in May 2005, adding US nationwide scale in the next-day and regional markets. Its subsidiary Meridian IQ offers global logistics management and freight forwarding services and provided expanded capabilities through China-based joint ventures.
