Brief Profile
Japan's Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) is one of the world's largest multi-modal transportation companies. Its core business is ocean shipping including dry bulk, tankers, LNG carriers, car carriers as well as container shipping. It also manages container terminals and has freight forwarding businesses to support its container shipping operations.
It also operates a ferry shipping business in Japan which transports passengers but also picks up latent demand for cargo shipping. In addition, MOL owns a residential and office building leasing company, has tugboat operations, offers marine consulting, marine engineering, trading and temporary staffing, most of which have some relationship to MOL's core ocean shipping business. Finally, MOL also conducts cruise shipping.
In 2012, MOL had revenues of ¥1,509bn.
