Based in South Africa, Imperial Logistics is one of three divisions of industrial services and retail group Imperial Holdings Limited.
Imperial Logistics manages and controls the entire logistics business of Imperial Holdings through two wholly owned subsidiaries: Imperial Logistics International and Imperial Logistics (Southern Africa). The former controls all logistics operations in Europe while the latter manages operations in Southern Africa.
Imperial Logistics International's services in Europe extend to road distribution, contract logistics, freight forwarding, bulk shipping and terminal management on the Rhine and Elbe rivers, intermodal transport (including rail container transport) and, with the acquisition of Lehnkering in October 2011, the company has become an established player in the chemical and steel logistics sectors. In Southern Africa, Imperial Logistics' operations are more narrowly-based with road distribution and contract logistics its most significant activities.In 2012, its revenues were R32.6bn.
