The Port of Singapore operates facilities and terminals that handle a range of cargo transported in different forms, including containers, conventional and bulk cargo.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is responsible for the development and growth of the Port of Singapore, which includes terminal operators, such as PSA Corporation and Jurong Port Pte Ltd.
MPA was established in 1996 to develop Singapore as a global hub port and international maritime centre (IMC). It is expanding the Singapore maritime industry by developing ancillary services. These include ship broking, ship management, marine insurance, shipping finance, maritime legal/arbitration services, R&D initiatives, and maritime education and training.In 2012 MPA revenues were reported at S$274.35m.
