2006

The Connection company has been acquired by Saia Inc for $17.5m. The initiative was designed to advance Saia's strategic goal of providing complete coverage throughout North America.
The Connection Company was founded in 1983 and began life as Dan's Transit.  In 1984 The Ohio Connection was formed. This division of Dan's Transit offered overnight service through a network of three Ohio terminals -- Columbus, Cincinnati, and Akron. They soon grew to a network of ten terminals in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Kentucky and in 1991 expanded their offer to include all of Canada.

By 1996 the terminal network had increased to 17 terminals serving a four-state area. To better identify the company as a regional transportation provider, the Ohio was dropped from the name and in 1996 they began to operate as The Connection Company.
