Brief Profile
China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) specialises in shipping and logistics as well as serving as a shipping agency and providing services in freight forwarding, shipbuilding, ship-repairing, terminal operation, trade, financing, real estate and the IT industry.
It has shipping route network covering North America, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, South Africa and West Asia.
The group operates in four main segments;

- Trade
Of these, the shipping and logistics business segment is the largest; consisting of liner, bulk, tanker and specialised shipping operations, as well as a logistics business, shipping agency, passenger shipping operations and terminal management.
Revenue for 2008 was CNY130,871m.
History
Founded in 1961 it started its international maritime business from scratch as a trans-national service company specialising in ocean shipping solutions. The company was restructured in 1993 into a shipping group and added logistics operations at that time.
