Kirby Corporation, founded in 1921, is a tank barge operator in the US, transporting bulk liquid products throughout the Mississippi River System and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
The company is split into two divisions: Marine Transportation and Engine Services. Marine Transportation provides inland barge services for products such as petrochemicals, pressurised products and black oil products. Engine Services is split into three subsidiaries: Engine Systems, Marine Systems and Rail Systems. The division overhauls and services medium-speed and high-speed diesel engines and reduction gears and sells diesel engine parts.
The company also has an ocean transport subsidiary, Kirby Ocean Transport, that operates ocean-going barges and tug units transporting dry bulk commodities in the US coastwide trade.
